CDC launches new round of Tips from Former Smokers ads

New ads in the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Tips from Former Smokers campaign launched on Monday, April 1. The ads will run for 27 weeks through Sunday, October 26, and feature both new and returning Tips participants. The new spots differ from past Tips videos by highlighting the emotional impact that smoking and tobacco use have on the family of tobacco users. To help illustrate this point, the campaign enlisted Susan Nimoy, widow of "Star Trek" legend Leonard Nimoy. Despite quitting smoking thirty years earlier, Nimoy died from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD, in 2015.
