A new report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Office on Smoking or Health shows that the majority of U.S. adults favor lowering nicotine levels in cigarettes. In addition, eight out of 10 current cigarette smokers also favor reduced levels of nicotine. The percentage of those who favor nicotine reductions was high across all assessed categories including sex, age, income, gender, education, race/ethnicity, and use of other tobacco products.
