The Smoke-free Housing Initiative program is funded through a grant from the Medical College of Wisconsin, Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin, Healthier Wisconsin Partnership Program and the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services- Tobacco Prevention and Control Program, and is located at the Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council, Inc., in Lac du Flambeau. The program's goals are to address health disparities and to lower rates of chronic disease among American Indians in Wisconsin. Outreach includes providing education to respect traditional tobacco while rejecting the use of commercial tobacco.
