Ideas to Fill Your Social Calendar

Please consider these ideas for use on your organization's social media platforms in June:

  • Father’s Day - Check out sample posts and graphics (and customizable templates), as well as Wisconsin-specific and national data on dads smoking and related health impacts.
  • Pride Month - A new CDC feature article highlights Pride Month and the importance of being tobacco-free. Tips participant, Angie P. is part of the LGBTQ+ community and started smoking as a teenager. Growing up she never felt like she belonged and struggled with substance abuse and tobacco addiction. After joining a program that used an FDA-approved quit-smoking medicine, Angie quit smoking for good. The article also discusses health equity and tobacco-related health disparities among LGBTQ+ people and tips for how to quit smoking.

CTPTP has a New Smoke-Free Air Webpage

Earlier this month, the Smoke-Free Air webpage went live on the Wisconsin DHS website within the CTPTP section. This page will serve as a depository for trusted information about smoke-free air. Please refer people in your communities to this page as you do educational outreach about the need to expand protection in our local and state smoke-free air laws to include e-cigarettes and cannabis. Please contact Gina Larsen if you have ideas about how to improve or add to this web page.

Speaking of Web Content... What's Coming Next?

CTPTP is in the early stages of planning DHS web content about All Flavorings (including menthol). This content will bring our CTPTP education/outreach content in line with our top policy priorities.

Now Online: Smoking Cigarettes During Pregnancy Fact Sheet

The 2024 fact sheet that corresponds with the full Smoking During Pregnancy Report data recently released by Karen Palmersheim and UW-Milwaukee’s Center for Urban Population Health is now published on the DHS website and posted in the resource library on Tobwis.org.

REMINDER FROM MAY NEWS TO USE

Download Wisconsin Youth-Inspired Anti-Vaping Posters

A powerful long-term partnership between Public Health Madison & Dane County, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Extension, and FACT helped facilitate the youth-led development of three impactful anti-vaping posters. This artwork is now available for download.

A big thank you to Myranda Phelps-McGuire for sharing these with all of us. JUUL Settlement funds helped support this project.

Thinking Locally

Download and/or print the posters to discuss with young people in your community and distribute to places where they gather.
