You Are Invited... To Print and Use Wisconsin Youth-Inspired Anti-Vaping Posters

Brightly colored illustration of teen being crushed by an oversized vape and Feeling the Pressure to Vape text

A powerful long-term partnership between Public Health Madison & Dane County, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Extension, and FACT helped facilitate the youth-led development of three impactful anti-vaping posters. This artwork was recently revealed at a community event in Madison and is now available for download.

Eight young people in grades 8-12 worked individually and then as a group to brainstorm concepts that would resonate with their peers. Their ideas were then sent to a professional graphic designer who workshopped with the group. A big thank you to Myranda Phelps-McGuire for sharing these works of art with all of us. JUUL Settlement funds helped support this project.

Thinking Locally
Download and/or print the posters to discuss with young people in your community and distribute to places where they gather. Just a tip: It might make sense to send the files to a quick-print service, as they are bold, colorful, and large-format.

No Menthol Sunday Messages are in More Communities in 2024

conversation bubble icon

This year, CTPTP is investing in No Menthol Sunday (NMS) paid radio spots and social media placements in communities in addition to our customary Milwaukee placements. We worked with local coordinators in Beloit, Madison, Fond du Lac, and Racine-Kenosha to identify their supportive radio partners so that our buys reinforced these important local relationships. Not every community has NMS events planned, so the radio spots will serve to raise awareness of NMS.

You can listen to the 2024 No Menthol Sunday radio spots. The radio spots and social media posts were provided by the Wisconsin African American Tobacco Prevention Network. Media planning and placement funds came from CTPTP. This has been a rewarding collaboration!

As a reminder from the last issue of N2U, there are fact sheets and other helpful resources in the No Menthol Sunday toolkit. Please contact Gina Larsen if you would like assistance crafting a message for the communities you serve.

REMINDER FROM APRIL NEWS TO USE

New! Live Vape Free for Young Adults

Cigarette in hand illustration

As of March, Live Vape Free offers a new service specifically designed for young adults who want to quit vaping. The free service will be promoted to the first cohort (ages 18-26) exposed to widespread commercial electronic vaping devices. It is designed to meet their unique needs for support, text-based communication, nicotine replacement therapy, and other life-stage considerations.

Please note: Live Vape Free is a single program, not separate teen and young adult versions. Only participants over 18 will be offered NRT if medically eligible. The main logistical change is that LVF is now available to all people ages 13-26 (as opposed to only 13-17). The call to action is the same: Text “VAPEFREE” to 873373 or visit livevapefree.com.

Thinking Locally
This new service for young adults is newsworthy. Please consider using this Live Vape Free for Young Adults news release template and social media posts to help spread the word.
